Well…here it goes! My first fashion blog…goodness, this is scary & exciting!
I started blogging years ago to talk about everything from family to design. I LOVE design. I started working almost 15 years ago in fashion and recently stopped to be home with my family. So it was definitely time to start back in fashion in anyway I can.
I have worked in small boutiques, medium chain stores, and big chain stores…Nordstrom being my "top" love job. During fashion school I interned at Nordtrom in Atlanta, so my crush was heavy from the start, and ultimately when I graduated I was offered a job. Such a blessing! It was 2007 and I never looked back. I can tell you this, it is a VERY good company to work for. If you noticed my beginning date at Nordstrom, it was also the very beginning of the recession. It was only maybe a year later that we were really affected by it and Nordstrom did everything in their power to save each of our jobs. Talk about a scary time! But it taught me confidence, HARD work, and resilience.
But sadly I quit to follow my soon-to-be husband to Alabama, where his firm was. It just made sense for us, as hard as it was for me. Alabama is very different than what I am used to (big city girl), but I really love it here! My husband and I have a gorgeous two year old boy and this small city is so safe and family-friendly. Not saying Atlanta or other cities aren't, but it was a blessing to move somewhere unfamiliar to me that was.
Okay…so enough about my back story! Haha! Let's talk FASHION! It's so fitting that this blog is starting right in the height of Fashion Week. And I have been lusting over tomorrow's schedule; Rebecca Minkoff, Nicole Miller, Charlotte Ronson; Monique Lhuillier, August Getty…Friday night will be a definite party show-down.
One thing that I love about this particular NYFW is who designer Carrie Hammer hired to strut down the runway; a girl with Down Syndrome. The first ever model (& actress, might I add) to do this. Her name is Jamie Brewer, who you might know from American Horror Story. Well done, Carrie Hammer! Read the whole story here.
Well, I hope you all stay with me through my "green" blog state. I know this blog isn't perfect, but I'm definitely trying! Thank you for reading! And I thought a fun way to end this post is to let you know what I'm lusting over right now. Yum…and so perfect for Valentine's Day!
